BOOK DESCRIPTION
No, I didn’t kill the dead human. If I had, I wouldn’t dump the body in the station mall.
When Murderbot discovers a dead body on Preservation Station, it knows it is going to have to assist station security to determine who the body is (was), how they were killed (that should be relatively straightforward, at least), and why (because apparently that matters to a lot of people—who knew?)
Yes, the unthinkable is about to happen: Murderbot must voluntarily speak to humans!
Again!

MY REVIEW
And here we are, back to the novellas, but this time Wells has decided to change the formula up just a bit and throw in a bit of a Whodunnit, murder/mystery style of plot. I have to say, the change definitely worked for me because the series did start to get just a little repetitive. This actually reminded me tad of Isaac Asimov’s iRobot in a way. I’m not sure how close the movie and the novel resemble one another, but it had a scene or two and a bit of the plot from the Will Smith led film that I just couldn’t shake. With that said, the change up also led to a lack of action that made this feel a bit slower paced than the others in this series.
“All I wanted to do was watch media and not exist. I said, You know I don’t like fun.”
Murderbot continues to be a fun character to read with it’s witty banter against whatever random character he’s paired with on it’s newest mission, and with it being back to novellas, I’m ok with not knowing much about the other characters involved with the story. Kevin Free is back yet again delivering another top notch performance. I’ll never get tired of him because I feel like he does such a great job of making it easy to know who is speaking and getting into the emotions of the charcaters, especially Murderbot.
