BOOK DESCRIPTION
The end is nigh.
It has been nearly two hundred years since Hadrian Marlowe assaulted the person of the Emperor and walked away from war. From his Empire. His duty. From the will and service of the eldritch being known only as the Quiet. The galaxy lies in the grip of a terrible plague, and worse, the Cielcin have overrun the realms of men.
A messenger has come to Jadd, bearing a summons from the Sollan Emperor for the one-time hero. A summons, a pardon, and a plea. HAPSIS, the Emperor’s secret first-contact intelligence organization, has located one of the dreadful Watchers, the immense, powerful beings worshipped by the Pale Cielcin.
Called out of retirement and exile, the old hero—accompanied by his daughter, Cassandra—must race across the galaxy and against time to accomplish one last, impossible task:
To kill a god.

MY REVIEW
I was just absolutely blown away by this, like, how can these keep getting so much better? This to me, is neck and neck to Demon in White when it comes to the best novel of this series, and I can’t state that loud enough. Sun Eater is definitely going to end up being one of my all time favorites, and one I’m comfortable with re-reading at some point. Now here we are at the penultimate novel of the Sun Eater series and I’m just floored about everything that has happened in Disquiet Gods. Ruocchio does his normal thing of a slow start that builds into something incredible and knows exactly what to do to get me and every reader in their feels.
“We cannot decide the world we live in ourselves, but we can change the world for those who follow after.”
Ruocchio is a master story-teller, from the character work, the worlds, the relationships, old foes and new, as well as new and old allies, everything about this is just phenomenal. I love how much Hadrian has to go through in each novel, it makes the ending such a fantastic payoff, but while that is always the main focus, there are some other characters that worked their way into my heart, though I’d like to say a lot more, I feel like I’d be a little too vague on details to keep from giving up any kind of spoilers that could ruin someone else’s reading. Just know that this was absolutely incredible and will have you on the edge of your seat the same way it had me. I can’t leave a review without mentioning the stellar narration of Samuel Roukin, who I am constantly praising in each book, whoever found him scored big time, there’s few that can bring what he brings to the table.
