2021 —> 2022

I didn’t go into 2021 expecting to create a blog, become friends with so many other book bloggers and converse with multiple authors on Twitter. This year has taught me many things, and the last few months have been the best part of it. I ended up finishing the year with 1,926 total views and Of Darkness and Light by Ryan Cahill, being my #1 most viewed review!

In those last few months, I created Wolfmantula.com to be a book blog but ended up making it much more than that. One of my passions the last 10 years or so was making NFL mock drafts. I realized I could add that to my blog since I didn’t give it a name that made it book inclusive which has driven me even harder to get more accurate information for my mock and my blog to feel legitimate. Compared to a year ago, my reviews have taken a major step forward in how well they are written and how informative they are. I still try to tell as much as I can without giving anything away about the book, and I’ll continue to grow even more as a reviewer!

The biggest thing about this journey I took this year is that I got to be an ARC reader. That was an amazing opportunity I did not know I was going to be able to do in the first year of creating my blog. Not only did I get to be an ARC reader for 1 book, but I got to do a second book that I am still reading on. Which leads me to 2022…

What’s in store for 2022?

I have a few things in store for 2022 for sure, I plan on reading at least 50 books again this year. I read 74 in 2020 and 65 last year, so 50 is a very reasonable goal to meet. The other thing I have in store for sure in 2022 will be revealed in mid to late January which is something I did not think would happen to me for a few years. So I’m overly excited for this when it is revealed… and it’s been eating me alive to not shout it out to the world already! 😂

I have a bunch of popular authors that I plan to get to this year like Will Wight, Josiah Bancroft, Pierce Brown, S.A. Chakraborty, Michael J Sullivan and many more that I’ll be happy to finally say “yes, I read these books and I love them!” I’ll also be adding and removing books on my list throughout the year, so I’ll actually only read about 50% of what’s on my current 2022 TBR list. Also for 2022, I plan on filling my new bookcase up a little more! There’s not many in there, since I haven’t been reading very long. I do have 5 Special Editions coming in very soon via Kickstarter and Broken Binding, which will help fill in a few spots. That’s all I’ve got for now! Let’s all enjoy New Years and eat those nasty black eyed peas!
