Review: The Titan’s Curse (Percy Jackson and the Olympians #3) by Rick Riordan

MY ⭐️ RATING: 4.5/5

FORMAT: Kindle Whispersync

BOOK DESCRIPTION

It’s not everyday you find yourself in combat with a half-lion, half-human. But when you’re the son of a Greek god, it happens. And now my friend Annabeth is missing, a goddess is in chains and only five half-blood heroes can join the quest to defeat the doomsday monster. Oh, and guess what? The Oracle has predicted that not all of us will survive.

MY REVIEW

Another fun adventure filled with non-stop action, with dozens of gods showing up, some hilarious pegasi, and a cow serpent! This had its typical funny moments throughout but it also gave several emotional moments that helped give even more character development with Percy, Annabeth and the others. There are some new characters introduced and some old ones surfacing back up to cause havoc. I am also thankful there is no movie to ruin this story like it’s predecessors! There are a couple twists in it, one of those is who the general is… honestly, keeping the identity of the general a secret wasn’t exactly pointless, but not that cilamactic either once revealed. It could have been revealed a lot earlier and had the same exact effect on the story as it did when it was revealed, it was more of an “oh, ok” moment. Another twist that was in the story was fantastic and was delivered perfectly!

Five shall go west to the goddess in chains,
One shall be lost in the land with-out rain,
The bane of Olympus shows the trail.
Campers and Hunters combined prevail,
The Titan’s curse must one with-stand,
And one shall perish by a parent’s hand.

Mr. Riordan does a great job of inserting small plot lines that with the characters that help add more gravitas to the overarching story. While still not as good as The Lightning Thief, it is better than Sea of Monsters. I almost want to go back and change my rating to 4 stars, but all three have been great so far and each deserve 5 in their own ways. Really the only issue I had was actually with the narrator, who is doing a fantastic job. Mr.D’s voice is way too similar, almost to the tee, to Tyson’s voice. This has been a terrific series so far and I wish I had jumped on this sooner.
