Top 5 Reads of Q2, 2023

My top reads of Q1 was a hit, you can read that (HERE), so I had to do it again for Q2! I read a total of 16 novels, novellas, review requests and ARC’s during the quarter. The year so far has been very strong, and as I said in Q1, I’ll say for this one as well, a few of these have a shot at my year-end tops list as well.

Now to the Top 5!

5.) The Way of Renegades (The Bards and Dragons Saga #1) by Steve D. Wall

“Way of Renegades is a very strong debut with a diverse cast of interesting characters and an imaginative mostly unknown world dealing with somewhat of an industrial boom. One of the things that I knew of beforehand, was that Joe Abercrombie is one of his favorite authors, and because of that, I could see where that influence has rubbed of on him.”

4.) Titan Hoppers (Titan Hoppers #1) by Rob J. Hayes

While Titan Hoppers is something completely different in terms of genre, Hayes ability to tell a captivating story and create unforgettable characters, is why I loved Mortal Techniques and am already in love with this series, after just one book. So to say he hit this out of the park may be an understatement.

3.) The Blood of the Spear (The Eye of Eternity #1) by Mark Timmony

My goodness, this was such a fantastic debut that actually took me by surprise a little bit. I knew coming in that this was going to be good based on other reviews and word of mouth, but I didn’t let those other reviews or people affect the way I was going in to this.

2.) Waybound (Cradle #12) by Will Wight

“Will was able to tell such a fantastic story with so much action in this final book. Through the training, and the battle with monarchs and dreadgods, this had action-galore that had me on the edge of my seat seething for more.”

1.) The Wisdom of Crowds (Age of Madness #3) by Joe Abercrombie

Abercrombie nails it once again, and following the events of book 2, The Wisdom of Crowds derails into unmitigated madness from the start and my jaw on the floor with that bone-chilling final chapter that left me with literal hair-raising goosebumps.

Thank you for checking this out, I’d love to hear what you think of my list, and to see and hear what your lists are! Don’t forget to follow me, like this and retweet it!
