Top 5 Reads of Q3, 2023

My top reads of Q1 & Q2 were a hit, you can read those (HERE) & (HERE), so I had to do it again for Q3! I had a lot going on during this quarter, so this was my slowest so far, only reading a total of 9 novels, novellas, review requests and ARC’s compared to 15 & 16 previously, which puts my year-end goal of 60 books in doubt. But, with so many great books, my year-end tops list is going to be very difficult to make… but it is going to be amazing!

Now to the Top 5!

5.) Kraken Rider Z (Kraken Rider Z #1) by Dyrk Ashton & David Estes

Kraken Rider Z is a rip-roaring progression fantasy with unforgettable characters and tantalizing views. How can you not have fun reading something that has Krakens, Dragons and pirates, as well as characters named after authors and reviewers we know and love.”

4.) Ordinary Monsters (The Talents #1) by J.M. Miro

Ordinary Monsters is an unforgettable historical fantasy story that just kept getting better as it progressed. The slow methodical pacing of the story to go along with the narration by Ben Onwukwe helped set the dark tone with his deep foreboding voice that was both powerful and pleasant.

3.) The Last Ranger (Ranger of the Titan Wilds #1) by J.D.L. Rosell

Rosell paints a wonderful world full of beauty and adventure. As he brushed in the details, I couldn’t help but be mesmerized by how magical and real it felt, as if I was watching Félix Ortiz himself, who did the cover and extra artwork, bringing it to life on canvas.

2.) War Song: Legacy Rising (The Price of Power #0.5) by Michael Michel

“What Michel was able to do in such a short period of time with his character development and his world-building shows that he’s already got the skills and it’ll be fun to watch as he masters what he does with each novel he puts out going forth. Michel is definitely one to watch in this sub-genre of GrimDark, because he reminds me a lot of Michael Fletcher & Joe Abercrombie.”

1.) The Ice (The Bound and the Broken #3.5) by Ryan Cahill

Cahill must have sold his soul to be able to drop masterpiece after masterpiece the way that he does, it’s like witnessing Leonardo DaVinci create works of art or witnessing Ludwig van Beethoven compose sonatas over and over, something is fishy here. The Ice is a frozen hell of a good time, it’s every bit mesmerizing, as it is edge of your seat terrifying.

Thank you for checking this out, I’d love to hear what you think of my list, and to see and hear what your lists are! Don’t forget to follow me, like this and retweet it!
