Top 5 Most Anticipated Books for 2023

Wow… this was a hard list to make. At one point I was up to 12 and thought about making a top 10 or 15 list. After a good convo with David S. (BookMeanderings) of FanFiAddict, I was able to knock the list down to 5, so if you’re not on here, blame him, because I am definitely excited about more than just 5!… I also stole his idea of an honorable mention lol.

Honorable Mention

Seven Swords (Mortal Techniques #4) by Rob J. Hayes

I absolutely loved this series and the narration by Kim Bretton, so when I saw Rob mention in a reply that this was something he was working on, my heart just about stopped from excitement at more Mortal Techniques stories! But… the reason it is in honorable mention is that this book had a 2023 release date at one point, but has been pushed back for the Titan Hoppers sequel. Speaking of, I’m excited for the audio of book 1 to drop in January! I’m still holding out hope it lands in 2023!

Now to the Top 5!

5.) Legacy of Brick and Bone (Tainted Dominion #2) by Krystle Matar

How can I not be excited about this? I am currently reading book 1, Legacy of the Brightwash and enjoying it… But I have the honor of tuckerisation, having a character named after me, in Legacy of Brick and Bone, so I’m very excited to see not only how book 1 turns out before the end of the year, but also what happens to me in book 2 on its release date on 4/25/23!

4.) Combat Codes (Combat Codes #1) by Alexander Darwin

I really wanted to read this, this year when it was still available as an Indie series, but by the time I went to buy it, it was gone and I missed out on that opportunity. So now with the traditional release dropping on 6/13/23, I’ll be ready to jump in to this!

3.) Waybound (Cradle #12) by Will Wight

What else needs to be said other than this is the end, the final book, the EPIC conclusion to the Cradle series and it drops 6/6/23! The millions of us Cradle fans will be frothing at the mouth to find out how it all ends.

2.) Light Bringer (Red Rising Saga #6) by Pierce Brown

One of the most beloved on-going series there is, I struggled to put this at 1 or 2 but it doesn’t matter, because I am absolutely stoked for this. Red Rising is another series I finally read this year in 2022, so I don’t have to wait as long as most have, but I am greatly anticipating to see what happens next on 7/25/23, just a few days after my birthday.

1.) Of War and Ruin (The Bound and the Broken #3) by Ryan Cahill

I will technically have this in December as an ARC reader, but it’s official release date is 1/19/23, so I stand by placing it here! The Bound and the Broken is easily my favorite on-going series and Ryan is probably my favorite author, and he’s a pretty cool dude too. I will quite literally plan my TBR around the ARC release to make sure it’s clear so I can put all my focus on that. You could say that every book of his will likely be my top anticipated book every time releases something.

Thank you for checking this out, I’d love to hear what you think of my list, and to see and hear what your list is!

      1. Agreed, though I’m not really sure what he could have done to address that. It’s a tough balance, trying to convey a frantic sense of urgency, without it feeling like you’re just ticking off checkboxes on a list of things that need to happen before the end of the series. Very much looking forward to Waybound, and whatever comes after. Thanks for the recommendation on The Bound and the Broken – was just looking for a series to start while I’m travelling next week, and this sounds like it’s right up my alley!
